# About Actual Budget is a super fast and privacy-focused app for managing your finances. At its heart is the well proven and much loved Envelope Budgeting methodology. Actual is local-first, free and open source, and features multi-device sync, optional end-to-end encryption and so much more. Actualbudget was created by [James Long](https://jlongster.com/). Originally a commercial project, Actual became [open source in April 2022](https://actualbudget.com/open-source).
